Dr. Chris Pastore is a Professor of Transdisciplinary Studies and Assistant Provost of Faculty Development and Nexus Learning at Thomas Jefferson University. Previously he was Associate Professor of Textile Materials Science and Director of Textiles and Composites Laboratory at North Carolina State University and he was Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering and Associate Director of the Fibrous Materials Research Center at Drexel University. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University, M.S. in Mathematics from Drexel University and B.A. in Mathematics from LaSalle University.
Dr. Pastore is also a Fulbright Specialist and an Honorary Research Professor at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Durban University of Technology in South Africa. His work includes being an Associate Editor, Journal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics, SAGE. The research activities focus on the process-performance relationships of sustainable and textile structural materials. He emphasizes the manufactured sustainable design for enhanced performance and reduced cost.
He has authored several books on various topics including sustainability, textile composites and systems thinking. In addition, he has many refereed publications, conference presentations, holds a few patents, and has completed extensive funded research programs for the government and industry. He is recognized as an international expert and has served as a consultant to a variety of organizations ranging across green building materials, aerospace, automotive and biomedical.
